September 30, 2024
Heather MacCulloch, Director of Athletics and Recreation at Baruch College, was recently appointed as a member of the NCAA Division III Management Council. MacCulloch’s appointment was approved by the division’s 425 member institutions.
“Heather MacCulloch’s appointment to the NCAA Division III Management Council is a testament to her exceptional leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to the success of our student-athletes. Her service on this prestigious council reflects not only her personal achievements but also the strength of Baruch College’s athletic program and our broader mission to foster excellence both on and off the field. We are confident that her contributions will have a lasting impact on the future of Division III athletics, and we are immensely proud to support her in this new role,” said Baruch College President S. David Wu.
MacCulloch’s term of service on the prestigious committee is now underway and will continue through January of 2028. In her role on the Management Council, she will represent the City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) and the NCAA Division III membership at-large.
“It is a great honor and responsibility to represent Baruch College, the CUNYAC Conference and the NCAA Division III membership as a part of the Management Council,” said MacCulloch. “I very much look forward to working and engaging with this exceptional group of leaders as we strive to enhance the NCAA Division III experience for our student-athletes.”
The Management Council, the highest-level NCAA committee on which an athletics director can serve, reports directly to the Presidents Council and handles the implementation of policies adopted by the Association’s Board of Governors and Division III Presidents Council. The Management Council may sponsor legislative proposals; make interpretations of Division III’s bylaws; and may also handle resolution of Division III issues and recommendations from other committees and working groups throughout the Division’s substructure.
There are 21 current members on the NCAA Division III Management Council, comprised of Division III presidents, athletic directors, athletics direct reports, faculty athletics representatives, senior woman administrators, conference commissioners and two student-athlete representatives.
MacCulloch commenced her eighth year in her current role as Director of Athletics and Recreation at Baruch College with the 2024-25 season. Under her leadership the program has seen much success winning 3 CUNYAC Commissioners Cups, 30 CUNYAC championships, 21 NCAA championship appearances, 3 CUNYAC Female Scholar Athletes of the Year Award recipients, 1,076 Student-Athletes named to the AD Honor Roll since its inception in the Fall of 2019 and an overall cumulative GPA of 3.35 for the entire department.
“We congratulate Director Heather MacCulloch on her appointment to the NCAA Division III Management Council. This appointment reflects Heather’s outstanding leadership of our Athletics program and her steadfast commitment to the success of our student athletes at Baruch College. We are confident she will bring to the council her passion for fostering student athletes’ growth and development, both academically and athletically. We also believe Heather’s participation in this important role will greatly enhance and advance the future of NCAA Division III Athletics”, said Art King, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students.
