Baruch Business Academy Model Expands to Queensborough Community College

On November 17, Queensborough Community College (QCC) President Christine Mangino and Baruch President S. David Wu met to discuss the QCC-Baruch College Business Academy, which will help students who complete QCC’s Associate in Science degree program in Business Administration seamlessly transfer to Baruch’s Bachelor of Business Administration program.

The Baruch College Business Academy is expanding with the addition of a second school from The City University of New York (CUNY) system: Queensborough Community College (QCC).

Baruch College President S. David Wu and QCC President Christine Mangino met on November 17 to discuss the implementation of the partnership. Eligible QCC students who earn an Associate Degree in Business Administration can then transfer into the Bachelor of Business Administration program at Baruch’s Zicklin School of Business.

At the event, Baruch Provost Linda Essig and Zicklin’s Associate Dean Kannan Mohan, Executive Director Sonali Hazarika, and Director Anne Forman joined QCC Interim Provost Sandra Palmer, Dean Michael Pullin, and Professor Sebastian Murolo to launch the program.

The collaboration with QCC follows last month’s Business Academy launch between Baruch and its inaugural partner, Borough of Manhattan Community College. The Baruch Business Academy provides a transparent, predictable, smooth path for students to transition from partner CUNY Community Colleges to Baruch.

When speaking of the Business Academy model, President Wu has said, “Education is supposed to be an equalizer that helps all citizens overcome social, economic, and class barriers to success… As time will show, the Business Academy model will be a game changer for our students, and for society at large.”
