Baruch Jumps 110 Positions in Forbes Ranking
Now among top 25 percent of schools nationwideSeptember 17, 2021
Baruch College has been named among “America’s Top Colleges” by Forbes in its 2021 ranking of 600 public and private institutions across the country—landing the College among the top 25 percent of schools rated by the magazine.
This year, Baruch ranked #64 nationwide—a 110-position jump from Forbes’ previously published list in 2019. Among public schools, Baruch placed #24, a 25-position move up the rankings.
Forbes paused its list in 2020 to re-evaluate and revamp its methodology to “better account for which schools are serving as true engines of the American Dream.”
Baruch College President S. David Wu commented on the latest ranking, saying, “Baruch College is an exemplar among institutions that make highly competitive academic programs accessible to a diverse, under-represented student population in the system of higher education, while preparing them for both personal and career success.”
“It is encouraging to see Forbes recalibrate its national rankings to better reflect—and recognize—the transformative impact of such institutions.”
Forbes’ new methodology accounted for low-income student outcomes and added a large federal database to the tally of graduate earnings. As a result of this new approach, a public institution earned the #1 spot in a major national ranking for the first time.

Methodology
The “America’s Top Colleges” rankings published by Forbes measured seven factors: alumni salaries, student debt, return on investment, graduation rate, retention rates, academic success, and alumni who appear on its “American Leaders Lists.” Forbes reframed its data to better gauge alumni salaries, added a new metric to determine how quickly graduates paid off the cost of college, and accounted for how well schools were serving low-income students.
