Baruch College Announces 2020 Presidential Excellence Award Winners

Each year, the Presidential Excellence Awards recognize faculty for their outstanding achievements and commitments in teaching, scholarship/research or service, acting on the recommendation of the Awards Committee.
Baruch College will formally honor award winners in the fall during the 2020 Faculty Convocation, where each recipient will receive an honorarium and a certificate, as well as an inscribed plaque.
Meet the 2020 Presidential Excellence Award Winners
Distinguished Scholarship:
- Vincent DiGirolamo, PhD, Department of History, Weissman School of Arts and Sciences
- Don Waisanen, PhD, Marxe School of Public and International Affairs
This award honors faculty in three categories: written scholarship, creative work, and long-term career achievements.
Distinguished Faculty Service:
- Anna D’Souza, PhD, Marxe School of Public and International Affairs
This award identifies a full-time faculty member whose skills improve the quality of the Baruch community, particularly in the areas of diversity, inclusion, and cultural competency.
Distinguished Teaching (Full-time)
- Stephanie Hershinow, PhD, Department of English, Weissman School of Arts and Sciences
Distinguished Teaching (Adjunct)
- Cory Labanow, Narendra Paul Loomba Department of Management, Zicklin School of Business
Both teaching awards recognize faculty whose outstanding pedagogical ability, and innovation and effectiveness to their teaching make a positive impact on the quality of instruction and student life at the College.
About the Awards
Baruch College’s Presidential Excellence Awards are highly competitive, with more than 500 full-time faculty members, in addition to adjunct faculty, eligible each year. Nominations are welcome from any source within the Baruch College community. The Presidential Excellence Awards are established and maintained by grants from the Baruch College Fund.
