Spearheaded by the Baruch Honors Program and the College’s Bernard L. Schwartz Communications Institute, the Expo has been a decade-old tradition that brings together as many as 250 students—from a wide variety of majors from Baruch’s three schools—to present over 125 projects a year.
This year, more than 180 undergraduates participated in a total of 101 research projects. Topics, many which focused on pressing and critical issues, included: “Turning Trash into Treasure: An Analysis of Composting in New York City”; “The Relationship between Lottery Spending and Income/Poverty”; “Alpha Brainwaves and Relaxation”; “Harlem’s Gentrification: Storefront Vacancies vs Household Income”; and the “Financial Impact of NYC Migrant Crisis.”
Leading up to this annual event, faculty and administrators work collaboratively to provide students with opportunities to engage in inquiry-based undergraduate research, articulate their findings beyond the classrooms, and hone their scholarly and professional communication skills at the Expo.
