Baruch College Earns Telly Award for ‘Welcome Back, Baruch’ Video
June 7, 2022
“Welcome Back, Baruch”—a video celebrating the fall ’21 reopening of the campus—earned a coveted 2022 Telly Award, the world’s largest honor for video and television content-production across all screens.
Named a Bronze Winner in the Non-Broadcast Educational Institutional category, the video showcases new and recently renovated spaces for students to enjoy and discover as they return to campus following online and remote learning brought on by a global pandemic.
The award-winning video—which was produced in-house—showcases a ribbon-cutting ceremony with Baruch President S. David Wu to mark a makeover at 17 Lex; the grand opening of the Allen G. and Mary E. Aaronson Student Center—the College’s first permanent one—and the just-completed Clivner=Field Plaza, a much needed, open green space for the campus community.
Competition for the awards spans the globe with this year drawing more than 11,000 entries, including from all 50 states, five continents, and an increase in submissions from Australia, Mexico, across Europe (Germany, Spain, France) and Asia (Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan).
According to Telly, this year’s entrants “truly represented the most innovative stories being told… as a Telly Winner, you are the standard bearer of excellence in our industry.”
This year’s win marks the fifth consecutive year that Baruch earned a Telly Award. Last year, the College added a Silver and two Bronze Awards to its collection.
Multimedia Production Manager Nicolas Caccese, who joined Baruch in 2017, spoke to both the power of the medium and the collaboration among campus partners to communicate the College’s unique stories.
“Storytelling through authentic and impactful videos not only resonates with the entire campus community but also engages our alumni, prospective students and their families, New Yorkers, and even audiences around the world.
This year’s Telly Award, and those won every year since 2018, comes about from the collaborative efforts of many individuals and partners at Baruch College,” says Caccese.
“Being honored alongside many major television networks, advertising agencies, and production companies is a testament to the quality of work we produce here internally.”
