May 25, 2023
The Baruch College Fund (BCF) set another record for its annual Bernard Baruch Dinner—drawing the largest crowd and the most alumni in the event’s history, and raising $1.61 million, marking the seventh consecutive year of bringing in more than $1 million to support the College.
The 2023 Dinner, held on April 26 at New York City’s Ziegfeld Ballroom, also raised another $101,000 which met a scholarship match, unlocking an additional $25,000 from The City University of New York.
The event also paid tribute to two luminary honorees.
Eric M. Kirsch (BBA ’84), executive vice president and global chief investment officer emeritus at Aflac Incorporated, received the Distinguished Alumnus Award. Kirsch has been a BCF Trustee for the past nine years, co-chairing its Investment Committee since 2017. In addition to holding senior management positions at Aflac, Kirsch’s outstanding career in finance included leadership roles at such prestigious global brands as Deutsche and Goldman Sachs.
Dan Stefanica, PhD, professor and co-director of Baruch College’s Master in Financial Engineering Program, was presented the Distinguished Faculty Award. Professor Stefanica has led the MFE Program to earn #1 rankings in the United States and globally. Students in the MFE program have had unprecedented success in global competitions – placing first in the Rotman International Trading Competition seven times. MFE graduates are equally renowned among employers, with 100 percent of students receiving internships and jobs at top firms last year.
How To Support Baruch Students
Contributions to BCF are ongoing and support Baruch’s ability to provide a high-caliber education and open the door to the world for students who might otherwise be denied that opportunity.
Gifts will also help support critical areas of urgent need, including financial aid, emergency grants, technology assistance, career services and faculty support.
