A First-of-Its-Kind Collaboration with a SUNY InstitutionMarch 13, 2025

L to R: SUNY Broome Community College President Tony D. Hawkins and Baruch College President S. David Wu held a signing ceremony on March 13 to celebrate a 2+2 Transfer Admission Agreement—a first between Baruch and a SUNY institution—that provides a pathway for transfer students to obtain a bachelor’s degree in business administration.
Baruch College and SUNY Broome Community College entered into an agreement that laid out a transparent pathway for transfer students to obtain a bachelor’s degree in business administration which will significantly increase their career opportunities and lifelong earnings potential.
The 2+2 Transfer Admission Agreement—the first-of-its-kind between Baruch and a State of New York institution (SUNY)— guarantees admission to Baruch College and entry into the Zicklin School of Business for Broome students with an associate of science degree in business administration who meet certain academic criteria.
Upon completion of their degrees, these students will join Baruch’s vast global network of over 170,000 alumni—leaders and innovators working across industries worldwide.
Baruch College President S. David Wu and SUNY Broome President Tony D. Hawkins commemorated this milestone at a signing ceremony on March 13, 2025, joined by leadership teams from both institutions.
“This exciting initiative exemplifies how CUNY and SUNY institutions can collaborate to expand educational opportunity through innovative, student-centered pathways,” said President Wu.
“At Baruch, we are deeply committed to access and academic excellence—ensuring that all students, regardless of where they begin, have the tools and support to thrive. Talent is equally distributed, but opportunity is not. This partnership helps close that gap by removing barriers, streamlining credit transfers, and empowering students to succeed in Baruch’s nationally recognized business programs.”
President Hawkins echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the student-first approach at SUNY Broome:
“One of the things we’re most proud of at SUNY Broome is our faculty’s commitment to helping students find success and achieve their academic and career goals, even after they graduate. This transfer partnership is one of our most exciting to date, as prospective students can now complete our Business Administration program — even completely online, if they prefer — and transfer seamlessly to one of the finest business programs in the country.”
A Blueprint for Student Success
This agreement is grounded on a shared commitment to student success. Baruch and SUNY Broome worked closely together to algin curricula to ensure that students receive a maximal return on their time, effort, and investment.
In addition to guaranteed admission, transfer students at Baruch College will benefit from numerous resources, such as academic advising, career services, tutoring, weekly review workshops, and opportunities to participate in more than 130 student clubs on campus.
