Baruch College President S. David Wu was selected as one of 10 Lifetime Achievement Honorees by premier media company City & State for its annual “50 Over 50 List.”

President Wu was recognized at an awards reception on January 31st and was featured on the cover of a special edition of City & State magazine.

Among the fellow honorees were Chair & CEO of the Metropolitan Transit Authority Janno Lieber, Former 32BJ SEIU President Kyle Bragg, New York State Assembly Member Inez Dickens, and former Deputy Mayor of Housing and Economic Development Alicia Glen.

Speaking at the event, President Wu described how Baruch is a true disruptor in the higher education space – as an institution that challenges the old model of higher education and “demands excellence and delivers outcomes at an affordable cost.”

President Wu continued, “There is immense value to our society when more people, regardless of their backgrounds, have access to an excellent education. Following the pandemic and the great reckoning over racial and social prejudices, our society is at a pivotal moment. The world is rethinking how organizations are run and what people can contribute to the new way forward. With the old norms disrupted, Baruch is creating the workforce of the future—one that increasingly values diversity, fresh perspectives, and a broad spectrum of experiences.”

Since President Wu’s tenure began in 2020, City & State has named him to its annual “Power of Diversity: Asian 100” list three times, and he has twice been included on the outlet’s “Higher Education Power 100 list.

In 2021, the Asian American Business Development Center named President Wu as one of the “Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business—the only awardee representing the education sector among the other honorees who were C-suite and senior executives from Fortune 500 companies and global brands.
