For the third consecutive year, City & State named Baruch College President S. David Wu, PhD, to its “2025 Manhattan Power 100” list which recognizes the most influential leaders in politics and government.

Honorees represent a wide range of sectors including public officials, real estate titans, health care executives, higher education leaders, prominent advocates and activists, and other noteworthy figures across New York City.

President Wu was the highest-ranking public college leader on the list, securing position #55. Also featured were CUNY Chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez and Board of Trustees Chair Bill Thompson.

Driving Change and Opportunity for Baruch’s Students

City & State—a leading media organization covering New York’s local and state politics and policy— praised President Wu for keeping Baruch College among the top U.S. institutions for upward mobility. The publication noted that last year “three-fifths of Baruch students received Pell Grants while the school’s six-year graduation rate ranked above the national average.”

In its profile of President Wu, City & State highlighted two key initiatives that he has championed:

    • Baruch Business Academy: Launched to create a seamless, transparent pathway for students to transferring from partner CUNY Community Colleges to Baruch’s Zicklin School of Business.
    • Antisemitism Studies Laboratory: Established earlier this year at the College’s Mildred and George Weissman School of Arts & Sciences, under the guidance of the Sandra Kahn Wasserman Jewish Studies Center, the laboratory will bolster research, advance pedagogy, and promote community engagement aimed at countering antisemitism locally, nationally, and globally.

    Recognized Leadership in 2025

In addition to this honor, President Wu has received other City & State recognitions in the last three months alone:

    • “50 Over 50 Alumni”
    • “2025 Trailblazers in Higher Education”
