Baruch College once again makes Forbes’ “America’s Top Colleges” list that ranks “undergraduate institutions that deliver the top academics, best experiences, career success and lowest debt.” Forbes evaluated 650 colleges and universities across the nation for the annual ranking.

    Baruch Rankings At-a-Glance:

    • #174 nationwide
    • #49 nationwide among public institutions
    • #4 in New York State among public institutions
    • #15 in New York State among private and public schools

Since 2015, Baruch has steadily moved up the Forbes list, climbing nearly 100 spots among private and public institutions nationwide.

Baruch: Central NYC Location and Low Student Loan Debt

In its profile of Baruch, Forbes notes that Baruch “utilizes its central Midtown Manhattan location and close proximity to Wall Street and Midtown as a hands-on learning experience for its students.” Forbes calls attention to the top employers for Baruch graduates, which include JP Morgan Stanley, TD Bank, and Bank of America.

Forbes states “about 85 percent of students graduate with no federal student loan debt” and the College has “a diverse student body: more than 100 languages are spoken, 168 countries are represented.”

The profile also points to the Baruch College Fund for “distributing more than $3 million in scholarships to over 1,000 students each year.”

This latest “Best Colleges” ranking from Forbes is in addition to its recent “America’s Best Value Colleges 2019” list, which placed Baruch #9 among private and public schools nationwide.

    Methodology: Behind the Rankings

The Forbes “Top Colleges” ranking focuses solely on the direct benefits a school provides its students by favoring output over input. It eschews metrics such as acceptance rates, endowments, SAT scores, and prefers variables like student debt, alumni salary, graduation rate, and student satisfaction. Forbes draws on data from IPEDS, the federal College Scorecard, among other sources. More info here.
