Baruch College Ranks High on U.S. News & World Report’s “2022 Best Graduate Schools” Lists
Zicklin School of Business and Marxe School of Public and International Affairs graduate programs secure #1 spots among public institutions in New York CityMarch 30, 2021

Baruch College once again earned national recognition for its graduate programs, as the Zicklin School of Business and the Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs both received high rankings and impressive gains on U.S. News & World Report’s “2022 Best Graduate Schools” lists.
Each of the nine programs ranked, four in Zicklin and five in Marxe, secured the #1 placement in New York City—and either the first or second spot in New York State—among public institutions.
On the national level, both schools made significant jumps this year. Zicklin’s Evening MBA program leapt 15 points from last year in the part-time list and now ranks as one of the top 30 programs among public colleges and universities in the country. Marxe’s Master of Public Administration (MPA) program now ranks in the top 25—moving up 10 spots—among the country’s public institutions.
Zicklin School of Business: Flexible Opportunities for Career Advancement
In addition to earning the #1 ranking in New York City, Zicklin’s Full-Time MBA program also occupies the top spot among public institutions across the state. The Full-Time MBA program also maintained its #6 placement among all New York colleges and universities.
Zicklin’s specialization in Business Analytics also made U.S. News’ list for the first time, ranking #19 among public institutions nationwide. According to U.S. News, its standalone rankings of popular specialties are concentrations and coursework that award credit toward schools’ MBA program degrees. With big data defining the 21st century, Zicklin’s business analytics elective classes open the door to new careers in the fast-growing fields of data science and marketing analytics.
“Once again Zicklin’s MBA is ranked number one among public institutions in New York State,” said Fenwick Huss, Willem Kooyker Dean of the Zicklin School. “Working professionals tell us time and again that they choose our programs for our relevant curricula, flexible scheduling, and supportive career services.”
Marxe School of Public and International Affairs: Educating Leaders for Public Service
The Marxe School’s MPA program continues to receive high placement among all public and private institutions in U.S. News’ rankings, coming in at #38 out of 285 schools. Marxe also had four sub-specialties rank in the top 25 nationally among public institutions: non-profit management (#9), public management and leadership (#19, tie), public policy analysis (#23), and urban policy (#14, tie). All of these concentrations within the MPA program help students obtain knowledge and skills to become educated leaders for public service or a future policy global leader for an organization.
“It is gratifying to see such strong recognition of the quality and value of the Marxe School’s MPA,” said David Birdsell, PhD, Dean of the Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs. “We are once again the top public program in New York City, providing not only exceptionally rigorous preparation for meaningful careers, but costs that match careers in the public and nonprofit sectors.”
Dean Birdsell added, “New York is the world capital of the third sector, and the Marxe School is the very best place to come to prepare for distinguished service as a nonprofit leader.”

Methodology
For the U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Business Schools” rankings, all 486 MBA programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International were surveyed in fall 2020 and early 2021. To calculate an overall score, the ranking indicators used the following factors: quality assessment, placement, and student selectivity. The rankings of public affairs programs are based solely on peer assessment survey results from deans, directors and department chairs representing 285 master’s programs in public affairs and administration.
