Baruch College is among the four-year public institutions recognized by The Chronicle of Higher Education on its just-released “Colleges with the Greatest Racial and Ethnic Diversity Among Managers, Fall 2017” index.

Baruch ranked #22 out of 422 four-year public colleges for having one of the most diverse managerial staffs.

According to The Chronicle, among 175 full-time managers—president, vice presidents, deans, department heads, directors—at Baruch, 12% are Asian, 14.9% are black, 15.4% are Hispanic; and 56.6% are white.

Nine schools from The City of University of New York (CUNY) placed in the index’s top 25.

    Methodology

The index measures the probability that two people chosen at random from the managerial staff are of different racial or ethnic groups. “Managers” are employees whose job assignments require managing the institution or one of its recognized departments or subdivisions and who exercise discretion and independent judgment. Only full-time managers were considered in this analysis, in which The Chronicle of Higher Education obtained its data from the U.S. Department of Education’s IPEDS database.
