Baruch College student Mohinur Abdullaeva is one of eight undergraduates selected nationwide by the U.S. Department of State for the notable Foreign Affairs Information Technology (FAIT) Fellowship.
Abdullaeva (’25), who immigrated to the U.S. from Uzbekistan and speaks Uzbek, Russian, and English, is pursuing a Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems at Baruch’s Zicklin School of Business.
The FAIT Fellowship program provides each fellow with $87,000 in academic funding over two years; two summer internships – one at the Department of State in Washington, DC, and one at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate overseas; and professional development and personalized mentoring during the fellowship program.
After completing the program, fellows receive an appointment in the Foreign Service as an Information Management Specialist, launching a career using their technology skills to support U.S. diplomacy abroad.
Career Goal: To Shape a Better Future
Abdullaeva’s interest in cultural events, cultural heritage, community, and diversity drew her to the outstanding opportunities provided by the FAIT Fellowship.
“Throughout my childhood, I learned not to let my hardships discourage me, and the channel my frustration into a drive to work harder,” says Abdullaeva.
“Coming from a disadvantaged background, I have a passion for women’s rights and inclusion. The Foreign Affairs IT Fellowship will help me create a successful path to shape a better future for generations after me.”
