Baruch College’s Master of Financial Engineering (MFE) program has been named the best in the nation, according to the 2026 QuantNet rankings.

Since 2015, Baruch’s MFE program has ranked in the top two position year after year by QuantNet, considered the most trusted guide for applicants exploring a M.S. degree in quantitative finance: #1 for eight years and #2 for three years.

“Recognized as the top MFE program in the U.S. affirms our commitment to academic excellence, rigorous training, and preparing our graduates with the exceptional skills and acumen needed to launch successful careers in the dynamic and complex world of quantitative finance,” said Dan Stefanica, co-director of Baruch’s MFE program, which is housed in the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences.

Largest Margin on Record between First and Second Place

This year, Baruch made history earning the largest first–second place margin QuantNet has ever recorded—finishing seven points ahead of Princeton University across 27 schools surveyed.

According to Stefanica, the MFE program led the rankings in all the career-related metrics—compensation, job placement at graduation, and three months after graduation. These top metrics are the result of a degree program that evolves with curriculum reshaped to best fit the current financial employment environment, feedback from industry practitioners and alumni, and faculty who are leaders in the field, explains Stefanica.

    Unmatched Placement and Earnings

Baruch’s MFE program continues to maintain a 100 percent employment rate at graduation, with leading financial firms recruiting students for full-time roles and internships. Graduates also earn the highest average starting salary, at $178,824.

    About the MFE Program

The Baruch MFE Program is a STEM-designated program that produces competitive, successful, and highly skilled practitioners by promoting the study of mathematical and algorithmic models in finance.
