City & State named Baruch College President S. David Wu on its “2025 Trailblazers in Higher Education” list, which recognizes “high-performing presidents, deans, vice presidents and other school officials, as well as academics, advocates, labor leaders, philanthropists, researchers and others who make New York a hub for higher learning.”

In its profile, City & State highlights President Wu’s efforts to integrate artificial intelligences into the academic experience by “working with researchers in ways to develop a curriculum that will bring deeper understanding of AI to the College’s students.” This includes launching Baruch’s new AI Hub and “partnering with business leaders in order to develop programs that address 21st century workforce needs.”

The publication also underscores President Wu’s role in expanding and modernizing Baruch’s campus. Under his leadership, the College is leasing nearly 124,000-square-feet at 63 Madison Avenue to add classrooms and offices, while simultaneously undergoing a $250 million capital project to renovate 14 floors of its historic 17 Lexington Avenue.

President Wu has been previously recognized by City & State’s “50 Over 50 Alumni” list, “Manhattan Power 100” and “Power of Diversity: Asian 100” list—further affirming his impact across higher education and New York.

About President S. David Wu, PhD

Dr. Wu began his Baruch College tenure on July 1, 2020, and is the first Asian American to serve as president of a CUNY college. An accomplished scholar, a technology innovator, and a bold and visionary academic leader, Dr. Wu’s career spans over 30 years at major private and public institutions.

Under President Wu’s leadership, Baruch College launched a major five-year strategic planning effort that began in fall 2023. The resulting plan will help ensure that Baruch not only continues its legacy but capitalizes on the innovations of a rapidly evolving world—to scale what the College does and expand its impact, while achieving an even higher level of quality and excellence.
