Four Baruch College Students Awarded Gilman Scholarships to Study Abroad in Fall 2018

The Gilman Scholarship, named after former Congressman Benjamin A. Gilman of New York, is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and grants awards up to $5,000 to apply towards study abroad or internship program costs.
Baruch College students from the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences and Zicklin School of Business received prestigious Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarships to study abroad during the 2018 fall semester.
The Gilman Scholarship, named after former Congressman Benjamin A. Gilman of New York, is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, and grants awards up to $5,000 to apply towards study abroad or internship program costs.
“Our students have always exemplified the determination and talent required of these scholarships,” said Valeria Hymas, Director of the Office of National & Prestigious Fellowships Advising.
Meet the Gilman International Scholars
Ashleigh Joseph (‘19), B.B.A. Finance, Zicklin School of Business
Destination: Denmark
“My future career goal is to work in corporate finance and becoming a well-rounded professional. The Copenhagen Business School will help further my education and developmental skills, as well as help me gain new cultural experiences.”

“The support of the Gilman Scholarship will provide me with the opportunity of a lifetime. Being able to study at Paris Dauphine University will help me understand different business models and will undoubtedly be very enriching. Study Abroad Opportunities Open to All Students
According to Hymas, 11 Gilman Scholarships have been awarded to Baruch students during the 2018-2019 academic year.
“The Baruch community is filled with individuals who take advantage of all of the opportunities presented to them,” said Hymas. “I hope their success inspires many more students.”
