New Media Artspace Presents Two Student Capstone Exhibitions

The New Media Artspace at Baruch College presents two exhibitions highlighting student capstone projects from the Spring 2026 semester: Ourchive and Sink or Swim.

Both exhibitions will run until September 8 at the New Media Artspace located in the Newman Library at Baruch College and are also available for viewing online.

What Ourchive Means

Ourchive is a collective display of “our archives” that unfolds moments of change and connection and traces the subtle ways memories and experiences intersect. The exhibition highlights a shared authorship of memory, where experiences are collectively shaped through interactions across interfaces and interphases. It explores how collective memory is not fixed, but rather is built, accessed, destroyed, and moved in tandem.

There are two overarching themes on display: “Interphases” explores the ephemerality of archives as sites of instability, and “Interfaces” focuses on archives as loci for interaction.

Who We Are

Ourchive is a group exhibition featuring original artworks created and collaboratively curated by the students of Professor Katherine Behar’s Spring 2026 New Media Arts capstone class.

Kianna Adams, Jesette Alveza, Joey Dong, Qian Dong, Rahma Elnhas, Ivan Han, Joanne Huang, Amanda Hutagalung, Sira Kanchanamongkolkul, Ethan Koros, Ivy Liu, Andres Mendiata, Jumaane Millette, Brandon Padilla, George Patellis, Christian Perez, Anna Rong, Miguel Rosario, Roland Thomas, Charlize Wang, YaWen (Roxana) Wu Wu, Joey Wu, Yajing (Jasmine) Ye, and Amelie Zhao have created new media artworks across video, photography, animation, interactive games, and sound maps.

Sink or Swim Exhibition Themes

The Sink or Swim exhibit ties together various projects that explore contemporary themes of AI, climate change, discrimination/safety, anxiety, and identity. These themes are relevant today as everyone is affected by these issues in one way or another. Sink or Swim represents how people must adapt, survive, or grow in the midst of life’s challenges. In addition, it reflects the pressure individuals endure from society, technology, and life’s obstacles.

“Swim” represents projects that address optimism and adapting to find new directions. “Sink” is symbolic of more challenging circumstances facing struggle, uncertainty, or feelings of being overwhelmed.

Each student’s project has its own unique icon, which signifies where their topic resides. The exhibition reflects human resilience, transformation, and the possibility of rising back up to the surface. The exhibition’s metaphor corresponds to the spectrum in difficulty of addressing these issues.

Students of Professor Dennis Delgado’s Spring 2026 New Media Arts capstone class created the unique works of art in this exhibition.
