Baruch College’s Master of Financial Engineering (MFE) program continues earning national recognition by receiving top placement in QuantNet’s ranking of the “Best Financial Engineering Programs” for 2019.

The Baruch MFE Program finished #2 behind only Princeton University and tied with University of California, Berkeley.

The College has placed in the top two spots of this ranking for four consecutive years: #1 in 2017 and 2016, and #2 in 2015.

“This ranking is another recognition of our highly successful Baruch MFE alumni and students, and acknowledges the dedication that all the faculty and staff provide this program,” said Dan Stefanica, PhD, co-director of Baruch College’s MFE program. “We have seen this year after year: once you hire a Baruch MFE student, you will want to hire more. This might be the fundamental reason for the success of our students, program, and community.”

    About Baruch College’s MFE Program

Baruch continually updates its MFE curriculum to fit the current financial employment environment. Since 2010, there have been 24 new courses such as interest rate and credit models, blockchain technologies in finance, modeling and market making in foreign exchange, and asset allocation and portfolio management.

Stefanica said MFE graduates receive employment as quantitative analysts and quantitative researchers, data scientists, as well as on various trading desks at sell-side firms. Some of the top companies that hire Baruch MFE graduates include AQR, Citadel, Cubist Systematic, Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan, Morgan Stanley, and Schonfeld.

    Methodology

QuantNet looked at 38 master’s degree programs with specialties in financial engineering, mathematical finance and quantitative finance. They derived the rankings from placement rates, starting salaries, employer surveys, GRE scores and peer assessments, among other factors. Read more about the methodology here.
