Baruch College was named among the Northeast’s top 12 higher education institutions by Washington Monthly in its unique ranking, which focuses almost exclusively on value and tangible outcomes for students.

In the 2023 “Best Bang for the Buck Colleges” in the northeast region, Baruch was ranked:

    • #5 among public institutions
    • #11 among public and private institutions

According to Washington Monthly, “higher education is facing its most severe challenges in decades,” and this ranking aims to highlight “colleges that provide a quality education at an affordable price for students with modest economic means.”

To develop the ranking, Washington Monthly focuses on three factors: social mobility, public service, and research, based on publicly available data collected by the federal government. Learn more about an explanation of their methodology.

Over the years, Baruch has earned national recognition for its academic excellence, value, and as a catalyst for transforming the lives and economic potential of its students.

Most recently, The Princeton Review listed Baruch among the nation’s “Best 389 Colleges,”  its  popular annual guidebook for prospective college students and their families. In its “Best Value Colleges” category, Baruch placed #4 spot nationally among public institutions.

In April, The New York Times released a create-your-own rankings tool that allowed students to prioritize different characteristics of colleges and universities across the country. Factors included academic profile, post-graduate earnings, economic mobility, and affordability. In the northeast, Baruch landed the #1 spot among public institutions in a seemingly countless combination of categories.

Last year, Forbes named Baruch among “America’s Top Colleges” list that was compiled with new methodology to “better account for which schools are serving as true engines of the American Dream.”
