The University of Texas at Dallas tracks publications in the top 24 business research journals. Three of these journals specialize in accounting: The Accounting Review, the Journal of Accounting and Economics, and the Journal of Accounting Research.

In 2025, the Zicklin School of Business ranked 12th worldwide in terms of publishing research papers in these three premier accounting research journals, up one place from 13th in 2024. Over the 2024-2025 period, the Zicklin School ranked #11 globally (and sixth among all public universities) in terms of publishing research in the “top three” accounting journals. This places Zicklin in the company of institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Duke University, the University of Texas at Austin, and the University of Southern California.

Faculty from Zicklin’s Stan Ross Department of Accountancy who have published in one or more of these three journals over the last two years include, in alphabetical order, Donal Byard, Masako Darrough, Mingcherng Deng, Svenja Dube, Yanrong Jia, Eunhee Kim, Edward X. Li, Brandon Lock, Seil Kim, Carol Marquardt, Jihwon Park, Edgar Rodriguez-Vazquez, Monica Neamtiu, Elisha Yu, and Yue Zhang.

“The results speak for themselves,” declared Donal Byard, chair of the Ross Department and Irving Weinstein Professor of Accountancy, “and speak volumes to our enduring commitment to excellence in research and teaching in accounting.”
