Baruch Students Earn Awards In Debate Competition at Brown University
NEW YORK, NY-March 5, 2015 - Students from Baruch College’s Model United Nations Team received awards in this year’s Brown University Crisis Simulation (BUCS), a college conference hosted by Brown’s Model United Nations Club.
The conference took place from February 26 to March 1. Baruch College students received awards in their respective groups for their excellent performance:
- Cherry Aung ’16, International Business Major, “Outstanding Delegate”
- Kevin Metters ’16, Political Science Major, “Outstanding Delegate”
- Samuel Rubinstein ’16, Economics Major, “Honorable Mention”
Committees at BUCS consist of no more than 20 people allowing for a fast paced and intimate debate.
For the first time ever, Baruch’s Model United Nations Team also participated in an international competition when they attended the McGill University Model UN in Montreal, Canada in January. On March 13 they will be hosting the Baruch College Model UN competition where approximately 130 students from other CUNY colleges and local universities will be coming to Baruch to participate in a United Nations simulation.
