Baruch’s Starr Career Development Center Hosts Successful Career Fair
A virtual networking event connected top companies seeking talent with more than 400 undergraduates from Baruch’s three schoolsNovember 22, 2021

The Starr Center provides comprehensive career services to Baruch College undergraduates helping them gain professional experience by organizing job and internship fairs and preparing students for interviews.
Once again, Baruch College was a nexus for professional networking as some of the city’s and nation’s top companies joined the Starr Career Development Center’s virtual “Fall Career Day” –the largest recruiting event of the semester for students.
More than 400 undergraduates connected with representatives and recruiters from more than 65 employers, such as KPMG, CVS, Uncommon Schools, Target, Wells Fargo, Enterprise Holdings, RSM US, international banking group BNP Paribas, and many more.
“At Starr, our aim is to provide students with the best job and internship opportunities as seamlessly as possible,” said Ellen Stein, PhD, Director of the Starr Career Development Center. “We are grateful to our employer partners who consistently come to Baruch College to recruit our diverse, top-notch students.
Stein added, “We are also proud of our students who take full advantage of these career events and exemplify the energy, talent, and ambition that employers are looking for today.”
With nearly 1,500 individual chats and more than 600 group chats with representatives from a wide range of industries, students were able make meaningful connections and advance their career goals.
“The discussions and meetings were worth it! I made great connections and would definitely recommend this event to all Baruch students, especially first-year undergraduates,” reported an undergraduate who participated.
A Starr Focus: Career Success
According to Stein, Starr hosted multiple virtual resume writing workshops to help student’s best highlight their achievements, skills, and accomplishments. Employer representatives also participated in virtual career fair prep workshops where they shared their insights with students to maximize networking opportunities and make a positive, lasting first impression to recruiters.
Starr’s staff members—who worked tirelessly on the event—were available via multiple communications channels including an all-day FAQs Zoom Room to help students in real-time during the virtual job and internship fair.
Earlier this semester, Starr hosted its Fall 2021 Virtual Accounting Fair geared towards students interested in careers in accounting, audit, and tax. In February, Starr will present Baruch’s Diversity Career Expo featuring employers from numerous industries seeking new qualified talent from diverse, multi-cultural backgrounds.
