Baruch College Students Selected for New York State Legislature Internships
January 30, 2023

Eleven Baruch College students will spend the 2023 spring semester in Albany participating in the New York State Senate and Assembly internship programs. Nine of the students are pursuing Bachelor of Science in Public Affairs degrees from the Marxe School of Public and International Affairs, and two are from the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences’ department of political science.
For the 11th consecutive year, all Marxe School applicants were chosen for the prestigious New York Legislative Internship Program.
The State Senate awards a $7,500 stipend to only 30 students selected as Session Assistants, who work full-time in a state Senator’s office based upon their experience, abilities, and policy interests. According to the state Senate, “strong personal initiative and principles are essential for success in the program.”
The Assembly Session Internship is a comprehensive academic program which gives approximately 150 students the chance to complete research and administrative responsibilities in a New York State Assemblymember’s office during the legislative session. Interns earn a $7,500 stipend and receive a full semester of academic credits.
