The Class of 2027 is comprised of 2,600 first-year students and 1,500 transfer students who represent all five boroughs, 25 states, and 35 countries from around the world.
Baruch College was bustling with excitement on August 24 as the Class of 2027 arrived to begin their academic journey.
This class comprises approximately 4,100 students—about 2,600 are first-year and 1,500 transferred from a community college or another four-year institution. The students represent all five boroughs, 25 states, and 35 countries from around the world.
The first-year students were formally inducted into Baruch College at a celebratory Convocation ceremony. At the event, Baruch College President S. David Wu referred to the Class of 2027 as “unbelievable.”
“To be accepted here, you already have a track record of strong academic achievements and community engagements. No matter where you are from, you have endured unprecedented disruptions in your studies during the global pandemic, so you know what it means to be resilient, focused, and determined. And this is what it takes to excel as Bearcats!”
President Wu continued, “The Class of 2027 represents the rich tapestry of diversity that is a signature of Baruch…This is where you will find connections to everything you already know and everything you are about to learn.”
Linda Essig, Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Art King, Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students, also addressed the students, along with Jessica Yauri, the president of the Undergraduate Student Government.
Following the ceremony, Baruch hosted a carnival on the Clivner=Field Plaza on East 25th Street where students explored an exciting array of student clubs and organizations, made new friends, and began building lasting connections.
