    May 9, 2025

Student Excellence Takes Center Stage at Baruch’s Research & Creative Inquiry Expo.

More than 250 Baruch College undergraduate students—representing all three College schools—shared their research projects with the entire campus community.

Baruch College celebrated the scholarly excellence and intellectual curiosity of students on May 6 as more than 250 undergraduates presented 155 research and creative projects at the annual Research and Creative Inquiry Expo.

Showcased research projects delved into some of the key issues of our time in fields ranging from natural sciences to arts to finance, and international affairs, among others.

Since its inception in 2014, the annual Expo has become a cornerstone of Baruch’s commitment to innovative teaching and academic excellence. Sponsored by the Office of Experiential and Community Engaged Learning (ExCEL), the event highlights the breadth of academic pursuits across Baruch’s three schools: Marxe School of Public and International Affairs, Weissman School of Arts and Sciences, and Zicklin School of Business.

    ‘Setting Up Success After Graduation’

“The Research and Creative Expo takes a village and we are so appreciative of the students, faculty, volunteers, and administrators who helped make the 2025 Expo such a huge success,” says Anthony Maniscalco, PhD, director of ExCEL. “I am particularly pleased that we saw student representation from additional academic departments and programs at Baruch. For example, Black and Latino Studies, Fine and Performing Arts, Modern Languages, and Entrepreneurship and Innovation, among others.”

According to Maniscalco, the Expo provides students with a venue to share their research projects—which often spans months of hard work and collaboration with faculty mentors—with the entire campus community.

“Baruch is about its students and this annual event brings us together to learn about the diversity and strength of their research, which tackles many of the issues facing our society today,” Maniscalco notes.

    Among the projects presented are:

    • Chelsea Boakye (’25), public and international affairs at the Marxe School – “Health Disparities in Urban Communities”
    • Minha Hossain (’26), psychology at the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences – “Climate Change and Parenthood: Impact on Family Size Decision-Making”
    • Jayla Charles (’25), real estate at the Zicklin School – “Housing Discrimination in NYC”

Maniscalco says, “The Expo enables students to showcase their academic abilities and creative skills; they also improve their public presentation skills while building relationships with faculty mentors and new peer network partners—setting themselves up for success after graduation.”
